An important role of the community we create around us is to refuse to collude with our harmful patterns. (Lipsky, 2009, p.185)
Whether you call it a small group, a community group, a Bible class, or just a circle of friends, having a supportive microculture around you is important.
Our microculture should support us in two ways: by providing us with encouragement and holding us accountable. When we benefit from a microculture that is both loving and willing to hold us accountable, we experience compassion in action.
The spiritual trauma you are experiencing may stem from your uncertainty about receiving ongoing compassion from your microculture. Maintaining and cultivating compassion for ourselves and others is necessary for trauma stewardship.
People lose faith when they lose contact with people of faith.
Having close relationships with others who have faith can strengthen our own faith. When we witness God's faithfulness in the lives of others, it becomes easier for us to trust God, especially during difficult times.
