It is difficult to be fully aware of what you are doing if we are oblivious why we’re doing it (Lipsky, 2009, p147).
Before the sudden change in your life, there were actions and choices that served you well. These behaviors, which we once thought were essential, are no longer in your or your child’s best interest. Changing can be incredibly difficult because these patterns are part of our identity.
It can be challenging to be fully aware of our actions if we are unaware of the power of fear over our underlying motivations.
Few things help us overcome fear as much as hearing someone share a teaching in a way that speaks practically to our current circumstances. This helps us feel secure enough to engage in discussion and reflection, allowing the Spirit of God to help us understand the reasons behind our actions and find a healing path.
